ENVIROMIND Vol.2: Easy Ways to Save Money on Food while Living in A Big City during Inflation
Everything is more expensive in a big city and with the current inflation happening, we have to be more and more creative to overcome our spending. Is there any possibility that we can cut down our food bills while still having a healthy and full meal?
Well, actually Yes! These simple yet sustainable ways can help you save money more than you could ever realize.
1. Start gardening using what you already have: racks, pots and regrow

Make your own racks with the leftover wood or steel
If you got some leftover woods and steels in your house do not be fast to throw it away because you can always up-cycle it into racks to plant your own veggies. A vegetable garden can actually replace the amount of groceries that you need to buy every month, plus it is organic. You don’t even need to have a very large space to own one.

Recycle buckets for pots
Another creative way to use what you already have in your home is by using used paint buckets for your vegetables pots. They could hold huge growing vegetables, such as tomatoes and eggplants.

Regrow your vegetables
Regrowing method is another great way to even save more money on food bills. Instead of buying new seeds, you can always use your leftover vegetables. Most of the time we do not cook our vegetables with the roots, therefore you can put some vegetables roots, such as green onion, celery, lettuce and many more in a bowl of water. After several days roots will begin growing from the base and leaves will grow from the top. That’s when you should transfer it to soil in an outdoor garden.
2. Make your own “dining out” budget and stick to it

It is very important to keep tracks on our dining-out or coffee expenses. The real impact of making your own dining-out budget will show you how wasteful we are by always eating out. Many financial advisors actually recommend you to only spend 10%-15% of your income on restaurants and deliveries, but you can always adjust to your own preferences. The most important thing is sticking to the budget plans that you already created.
3. Freeze it

Some types of food are still pretty good for the next 1-2 days if you preserve it in your freezer. You can quickly prepare it with oven, microwave or even pan as if it were freshly cooked. It is super practical when you have leftover pizza or tacos ready in the freezer when you don’t feel like cooking on a hectic day.
